Student of the Month

From October to June of each school year, Wolcott Rotary honors a North Rose-Wolcott student as Student of the Month. 

Students are nominated by school staff for maintaining an excellent academic record, demonstrating exemplary citizenship in the classroom and community, and participating in school and/or community activities. North Rose-Wolcott students in grades 4 through 12 are eligible. 

Hunter Hanshaw, a 7th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott Middle School.

Hunter was selected by NRWMS staff who stated Hunter is very polite and respected by his peers. He is always willing to help out, and volunteer in his classes. Hunter has a great work ethic, and above average time management skills. Hunter also shows awareness of procedures of the school emergency plan as he showed in the recent lockdown, as he went above and beyond. Hunter's favorite subjects are ELA and PE and is a Principal's Honor Roll student. Hunter plays soccer, basketball and baseball.  Hunter enjoys participating in the Wayne County Fishing Derby. 

Carter Egnor, an 8th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott Middle School.

Carter was selected by NRW MS staff who stated that when considering an individual who represents a model student/citizen and overall wonderful human being, Carter was the first that comes to mind. He is always the first to volunteer to help a peer, consistently kind and respectful to adults and peers alike and takes on all tasks with a positive attitude. Carter is sociable, friendly and witty, brightening the environment everywhere he goes. Carter's favorite subject is social studies. He is a High Honor Roll student, plays baseball and enjoys hunting. 

Chloe Cole, an 11th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott High School.

Chloe was selected by NRWHS staff who stated "Chloe always brings an amazing attitude, welcoming smile, great work ethic, demonstrates outstanding citizenship daily, is always positive, fun-loving and academically strong. Chloe goes above and beyond and exemplifies Cougar values both inside and outside of the classroom."  Chloe's favorite subjects are History and English. She is a High Honor Roll Student, and she works at Steger Haus. Chloe's future plans are to go to St. John Fisher University for Criminal Psychology. 

Evan Loperfido, an 12th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott High School.

Evan was selected by staff who stated he embodies empathy, compassion, hard work and volunteerism. Evan is a self-starter, problem solver, critical thinker, and who is also a leader among his peers. Evan's favorite subjects are math and chemistry. He is a Principal Honor Roll student, Class President, member of National Honor Society, Varsity Club and Student Council. Evan participates in golf, volleyball, tennis, and production for Freedom Life Church. Evan's future plans are to do an internship in England for a church for a year and then go to LeMoyne College for accounting. 

Karly Smith, a 5th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School.

Middle School Principal Crystal Rupp shared that Karly Smith was chosen by teachers and staff because she is always doing quality work, challenges herself to do her best, is a model of kindness and respectful toward herself and others. Karly isn't afraid to go out of her comfort zone, trying new things and always asking questions to deepen her understanding of a particular subject. She is always kind and helpful to her peers. Karly shared with Rotary she participates in Choir, Band, is a Principal Honor Roll student and is a member of Student Council. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Science. Karly also participates in softball and basketball. Her future goal is to be an Engineer.

Olivia Putnam, a 6th grade student at North Rose-Wolcott Middle School.

Olivia was chosen by teachers and staff because she is kind, considerate, thoughtful, and genuine. She is a hard worker and earns high grades. Olivia is a positive role model for others, a great teammate and always respectful. Olivia shared with Rotary that she participates in Choir, is a High Honor Roll student and is a member of National Jr. Honors Society. Her favorite subject is science. Olivia also participates in basketball and dance. Her future goal is to be a Cosmetologist.
